I’d taken holidays early before it got too busy! Just chilling at the beach, enjoying the scenics, just like this seagull was!

A fellow Flickr user emailed me earlier this week to enquire about one of my lenses, the Samyang 85mm 1.4 and how it performed in low light portraiture. It’s actually a lens that I use primarily for landscapes. The focal length equivalent on my camera system makes it a 170mm 1.4 – which is pretty much on the long end for portraiture, and an insanely narrow depth of field for the distance, but here are some quick test shots I took yesterday morning.

Just for fun, these photographs are more or less out of camera, converted to black and white via lab method and not much else! They were shot between ISO 800-2500, 1/100 at f/1.4

Back at the end of August, I assisted a fellow photographer colleague and good friend with an engagement party shoot at Hyde Park. I had been wrangled in as there were going to be 60+ attendees at the engagement party, and it was going to be a case of all hands on deck to shoot everyone :D As it turned out, the lovely couple and their family and friends were more keen to have a very unobtrusive approach to documenting their special day. One comment I heard was “why is there a photographer hiding in the bushes?” Success! Mission accomplished! There’s a lot to be said for bringing a “wildlife” lens to the party :D

Kim of Shoot The Wicked Witch, it was great working with you and your lovely engaged couple. I wish them the very best in their future life together :D

A little selection of some photographs I shot for the wedding of Nathan and Nicole on 1st October 2011. I was attending as second-shooter/assistant for Ngarie of NJ Humphrey Photography. The wedding and reception was held at Mulberry On Swan which is a fabulous venue set in the beautiful Swan Valley here in Perth, Western Australia. What an amazing romantic event. Wishing you the very best in life, Nicole and Nathan, what a lovely couple you are. Enjoy your future life together :D And many thanks to Ngarie of NJ Humphrey Photography, it was both an honour and a pleasure to work with you.

Meet Randall, he’s quite the model! An elegant woofer, he’s settled into his new home and enjoying the love and attention that every furry most definitely deserves. He is such a well behaved good boy, and did I mention gentle and loving?

The “M” family have had some recent new additions, two in fact! A lil sweet boy and girl, twins :D

Their Mum and Dad and big brother sure have got their hands full, but you wouldn’t know, they are so well behaved and cute as can be. It’s always a lot of fun working with a lovely young family, I even got to have a little cuddle of the little ones too. I’d like to wish them all the very best in their future family ventures :-)

So here’s a little preview of these cute little people!
