sallydexter is very proud to be a sponsor of the 2012 Centro Mandurah FoNT – Festival of New Talent and wishes all the participants the very best – break a leg!

Back at the end of August, I assisted a fellow photographer colleague and good friend with an engagement party shoot at Hyde Park. I had been wrangled in as there were going to be 60+ attendees at the engagement party, and it was going to be a case of all hands on deck to shoot everyone :D As it turned out, the lovely couple and their family and friends were more keen to have a very unobtrusive approach to documenting their special day. One comment I heard was “why is there a photographer hiding in the bushes?” Success! Mission accomplished! There’s a lot to be said for bringing a “wildlife” lens to the party :D

Kim of Shoot The Wicked Witch, it was great working with you and your lovely engaged couple. I wish them the very best in their future life together :D

A little selection of some photographs I shot for the wedding of Nathan and Nicole on 1st October 2011. I was attending as second-shooter/assistant for NJ Humphrey Photography. The wedding and reception was held at Mulberry On Swan which is a fabulous venue set in the beautiful Swan Valley here in Perth, Western Australia. What an amazing romantic event. Wishing you the very best in life, Nicole and Nathan, what a lovely couple you are. Enjoy your future life together :D And many thanks to Ngarie of NJ Humphrey Photography, it was both an honour and a pleasure to work with you.

Getting To Know And LOVE Your DSLR

A very dear photographer colleague and friend, is running her dslr beginner workshop again this month on 20th August, 2011.

Ngarie of www.njhumphrey.com.au is an AIPP Accredited Photographer who has many years of experience in portraiture and weddings.  Ngarie’s workshops are geared towards the dslr camera novice.

Treat yourself to a relaxed Saturday out, with a wonderfully knowledgeable, experienced and friendly local photographer, who will help you demystify the workings of your camera, so that you can get the shots that you want to capture, photographs that you will be proud to display and share.

Check the flyer above for more information, then hop over to Ngarie’s web site at www.njhumphrey.com.au for more information on the workshop and topics covered.

Spaces are filling, so don’t leave it too late!

If not for yourself, give this workshop as a gift to someone you know … the gift of photography without frustration :-)

Hope of www.hopealexander.com had popped over for a cuppa this afternoon and we went outside (just before the big storm hit) to size up her poster for fun. She’s not used to seeing herself “bigger than ben hur” at approximately 47 x 40 inches ;-) Just as well it was laminated! It started raining cats and dogs shortly after … it was laminated for the flight to Melbourne, but turns out the weather was far worse in Perth! :D

Ohh this was very exciting, but I couldn’t post until the conference was finished! Back late June, Hope Alexander Master Public Health of www.hopealexander.com booked me for a portrait session as part of a poster presentation for the “2011 Consumers Reforming Health Conference”. This was the inaugural international conference for community engagement in health care, in Melbourne, July 2011.  The conference photographic poster presentation in its finished state, was 1 x 1.2 metres.

Have you ever visited the doctor’s surgery and seen all those glossy posters up on the wall with healthy, vibrant and confident looking professional health care providers? Given the title of Hope’s poster presentation, “Yes, consumers can … the expert patient lives on!” I thought I would be cheeky, and run with that concept, except have the “patient” playing the part of the healthy, vibrant and confident looking health professional! The feedback was, that it worked very well!

I hear the ONO Exhibition/Auction on Wednesday went well. Congratulations to all the Advanced Diploma of Photography students at CIT, TAFE, in Perth Western Australia. I submitted the framed prints below, and it  was lovely to get an email from a very happy successful bidder! If you missed out, there is still an opportunity to purchase your own prints in a variety of formats and finishes.
